Successful Resolution of Herniated Disc in Lower Back
A male patient, 27 years old, came for treatment in September 2011. He had suffered from a herniated disc in his lower back for three years including severe and permanent pain travelling down the left leg (9 out of 10). The injury resulted from a car accident. The MD had prescribed muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory during the previous two years. It produced little relief.
A combined treatment program consisting of chiropractic adjustments, decompression therapy (gentle spine stretching controlled by a computer program), acupuncture (electric muscle stimulation) and herbal remedies have been applied for 12 sessions (3 times a week) so far (ongoing treatment expected to last for another 6 weeks). The sessions last 30 minutes each. Preventative maintenance will most likely be implemented upon completion of the treatment (once a month).
The results have been promising so far as the symptoms have been reduced by 50%. The patient has been enabled to work again without any restrictions. He can do yoga and swim and is expected to be without any symptoms left upon completion of the treatment.
Successful Treatment of Degenerative Disc Disease
A female patient, 50 years old, came for treatment in early September 2011. She had been diagnosed with neck and back pain as well as sciatica and headache. The patient suffered from severe pain (9 out of 10). She had consulted with various MDs who could not help her. The MDs had prescribed pain killers to manage the pain. Dr. Selinger identified a degenerative disc disease (herniated disc) as well as osteoarthritis with a limited range of motion. It was impossible for her to exercise.
