Reverse Curvature in Cervical Spine & Strain-Sprain
A female patient, age 35, came for treatment in 2007. She had experienced an auto accident. As a consequence, she suffered from several injuries such as a whip-lash in her neck (stiff, swollen), a reverse curvature in the cervical spine of her neck (straightened kyphotic secondary curvature in the neck) as well as a strain-sprain in her lower back. The patient reported permanent pain of medium intensity (5 out of 10). Before coming for treatment she had been in the emergency room where an X-ray was taken and muscle relaxants were applied.
A combined treatment program was prescribed for a total length of 4 months. It was composed of chiropractic work (e.g. adjustments), physical therapy and exercises for the neck as well as the lower back. The program comprised three sessions a week for the first 3 weeks, two weekly visits for the following 3 to 4 weeks, and once a week thereafter. Upon completion of the program one preventative maintenance per month has been applied.
The results of the treatment have been accordingly. Maximum medical improvement (MMI) has been accomplished. It includes an almost pain-free condition (some minor flair ups every now and then) as well as significant corrections in the spinal and neck area. The outcome has been sustained ever since.
